OK, Barb. . . fine.

Since someone is actually reading this piece of internet neglect. . . I'll post something new. One of my youth inspirations, Jim Carroll died last week. He was an artist. Artists bear their souls for all of the world to see. It is an act of unique courage that I'll never duplicate.

"There ain't much time left, you're born out of this insane abyss and you're going to fall back into it, so while you're alive you might as well show your bare ass."

That's an artist. It's a manifesto for what admirable art is all about. as a 38 year old married dude here is mine.

"Every man has their own thing. Hidden demons haunt all of our subconscious. Me? I dig skinny bitches with long hair and big tits. It is my cross to bear."

It's kind of as deep as I get now a days. . . maybe it's because the only drugs I do anymore is beer and aspirin. Oh, and coffee. Art is hard. It's easy(for me(keep in mind, I'm arrogant)) to recognize but damn near unpossible to create. It'll be better.
The internet will save us all.
Or destroy us.
Either way.

Okay, it looks like we're taking a week off of the campaign version of the AH game. The D&D nerds are taking a week off to participate in our fine board game. I think I'll pre-draw 8 investigators and their items to save time, as we will run out of time quickly. See y'all Wednesday.

Dejected, debacled, dominated, destroyed, and deceaced, followed by devoured.

View the visage of our master. Yig didn't take long to show up. When he did, he took even less time to kill every last one of us motherfuckers. Nothing banked, nothing saved. 4 investigators swallowed whole.

Rita Young, Daisy Walker, Kate Winthrop, and Vincent Lee are dead. Never to return.

Investigators -0
Great Ancient Ones -4

We're going to need more guns. Lots of guns if we're going to do any better than this.

Character Selection Process II

Ann shuffled 'em up and drew:
  1. Vincent Lee - the Doctor
  2. Rex Murphy - the Reporter
Uh, oh. Neither of them are particularly cool or female, which is a problem with Ann. Poor Rex. Not only is he cursed, but everyone keeps passing on him. Ann goes with Doc. She's not particularly pleased about it, though. We've not heard the last of this.

Kevin's turn and he picked:
  1. Kate Winthrop - the Scientist
  2. Gloria Goldberg - the Author
This was interesting, as Gloria has the excellent ability to filter other world encounters and pick and choose what happens out there. Kate does not allow gates to open up in her area, acting as a mobile Elder Sign with a dorky haircut. Kate's more mobile, and Gloria is a slightly better fighter type. Kevin goes for the Scientist!

Ann was not happy. Therefore she used the dark arts under her employ to motivate Kevin in to switching characters. Kevin is now the skittish Doctor, and Ann is the dorky Scientist.

Lots of 'nerd' type characters here, including the Librarian I picked. I'm starting to think I made a mistake picking her instead of the Gangster. We may be lacking in asskickery. Time will tell. . .

Character Selection Process

I decided we need to know who gets which characters before we begin, so I can get them ready before we start the first game. Time is always a factor, and that will save us some of it.

32 Characters total are available. All of them will be available from the first scenario. The rules for the first scenario are from the base Arkham Horror set, we will be able to use characters from other sets as well. Starting characters will be determined by randomly drawing 2 and picking one of them.

I'll go first.
  1. Daisy Walker - the Librarian
  2. Michael McGlen - the Gangster
Okay, McGlen is probably the best fighter and Walker I think is definitely the best spell caster. I'm thinking the tie breaker is that Andrew will be pissed if I take McGlen out of the pool, so I am a mousy librarian.

Robert is next
  1. Rita Young - the Athelete
  2. Rex Murphy - the Reporter
Sexy Rexy starts cursed, which is bad. He never rolls to discard it, which is worse. He does get the sweet ass deal of collecting 2 clues for the price of one. Robert is not moved by this and picks Rita Young - the Athelete. She's fast, really fast and durable as well. She gets paid.

Tonight at the Warhammer game I'll get everyone else's picks done.

Arkham Horror Campaign

Okay, this will be an ongoing series of scenarios using the Arkham Horror boardgame where players will be able to carry money, trophies, items, and skills over from scenario to scenario, until all 10 progressively more difficult games are beaten or all of the characters are Retired or Devoured.

The first game will begin as normal with the following ruleset:

Once that scenario is over the following rules are going to apply going into the next one. Each character that was not Devoured or Retired will carry over to the next maintaining any unspent monster and gate trophies, Allies, Skills, and Clues. Physical and Mental Disabilities are also carried over.

Common Items, Unique Items, Spells, and Money will be handled differently. At any time during a game, a character can visit the Bank of Arkham and drop any of that off there in a deposit box and any other character can stop by and pick any of it up. If you are going to retire a character, you CAN go over there and drop any of these items off there.

At the start of each successive scenario, the Terror Level will be reset to zero, and maximum stamina and sanity will be restored to maximum for all characters. Each character can only have a maximum number of Common Items, Unique Items, Spells and Money as the amount of each listed on their card for starting items. Items and spells can be replaced if it is listed as a fixed posession on the character card. Any money, items or spells that go beyond these numbers are left in the bank until someone goes by to pick anything up there.

If we don't finish a scenario by the time we need to pack up and go home, I'll have ziploc bags to dump all of your character's card and posessions into and I'll take pictures of the game state for the next night. There you go.

Welcome

Hey, so it's a blog. It's mine and I have no idea what I'm going to do with it yet. My name is Jim and I'm a gainfully employed married guy with 2 kids. I'll be using this to discuss things that I like, and me being a little bit interested in a wide range of things and not very focused on any particular hobby. . . it'll be a fucking mess. I'm also a pessimist. Giddyup.
